Busy Times, Sad Times, No Time(s) T__T

Mon Nov 16, 2009, 5:25 AM
Hello everyone,

it seems like an eternity since I last updated this...
I'm really sorry for not being active, but there have been some unpleasant events in my photography business which made me stop entirely for several months.
That was followed up by me moving to Frankfurt and to colds in a row.
I do have a lot of stuff to upload though, since I'm still not showing everything I shot back in spring/summer.

As I'm now starting university and have to make my portfolio for art academy from scratch additional to my normal photography business, I won't have time to keep up with dA as much as I'd want to...

I'm not sure about uploading works here at all anymore... I won't delete anything here in the near future,
but I'm questioning what I really get out of this community.
Constructive criticism?
Nope. I'm part of the problem myself, but sadly the majority of people just wants praise and can't handle any form of criticism.
Exposure?
Nope. Perhaps my style is just not what people are looking for in the internet or it's just bad luck. But from a business point of view, I don't get anything out of dA.
Friends?
Rarely. One of the people I always wanted to get to know on dA recently started a conversation on Model Mayham... so much about that...

The conclusion for now:
This will be my last journal in a long, long time.
And if there will be submissions, perhaps they won't be of the fashion/portrait kind you are used to.
Keep a watch for new works, even if they might not be what you expect and quite far away right now...

Take care everyone!
Neal

Good Luck to Anna!

Thu Feb 19, 2009, 3:59 PM
Anna, whom I photographed last year, leading to some of my favourite photos ever,
is now a contestant on Germany's Next Topmodel and already among the top 30!

You can see her in my new Featured Deviation (which is my best picture so far, imho).

I believe she has the potential to get really far in the contest and probably even win it.
Good Luck!

Neal

ps: on a sidenote, I'll have to update my portfolio (and subsequently dA) with more professional looking presentation asap... the current state is bothering me quite a bit :/

Additionally to the decision not to allow anyone to print my images without officially obtaining reproduction rights through a written contract, I wouldn't even be able to sell here on dA due to FAQ #613: How old do I have to be to sell my prints?

Tagged for the first time

Sat Aug 23, 2008, 2:26 AM
1-Post these rules in your journal.
2-each tagged person must post 8 facts about themselves in their journal.
3-at the end, you must tag 8 people and post their icon in your same journal.
4-Go to their page and send them a message that they have been tagged.

5-I ignore 3 and 4 and just leave it up to you to participate... Freedom Forever!
6-No tag backs.

Fact no. 1:
I actually hated art as a subject in school until I got my first camera. To me, class had nothing to do with creativity and I projected that on the real art world too.
Things changed (obviously) and I chose art as my main subject for the last two years.

Fact no. 2:
I'm a science genius. I taught myself every bit of the curriculum in maths until my graduation in grade 7 (5 years ahead) and did the same with physics, chemistry and biology the following years. In grade 11 I attended university beside school to study technical biology.

Fact no. 3:
I had no fashion taste at all until I became interested in art. Before that I looked really horrible. The details are so embarrassing that I shudder remembering them XD

Fact no. 4:
When I go out with male friends, we're usually mistaken for a gay couple, resulting in some very funny situations.
When I'm dating girls, people often think I'm her gay best friend.
(stupid prejudice! :shakefish: )

Fact no. 5:
I was born with a chronic heart desease that was only diagnosed some years ago.
Until then I never had any symptoms, but by now it's quite limiting (no physical activities). Without regular medication, I would even have difficulties going up long stairways.

Fact no. 6:
You will never see me in public without a scarf. Never ever.

Fact no. 7:
I still have every single page that I wrote at school since elementary school. I will probably make a huge bonfire out of them :evillaugh:

Fact no. 8:
Although my voice has broken some years ago, I can still perfectly sing every note I used to able as a child. I even gained some range at the top after some months of vocal coaching and can now rival any female soprano.
I haven't been practising for 4 months now, so I've lost about and octave at the top again, but I'll eventually return to this passion some day...

Quick Notice

Tue Jul 29, 2008, 8:59 AM
Although I will still be updating my Gallery here on dA,
it might not be as immediate as it usually was.

I need to sort out a few things until I have some sort of routine for being up to date with my internet presences...

Not to speak of the need for a personal website.

My Portfolio will absolutely always be as current as possible.
For now, it is located at [link]
All the images on there will sooner or later appear on deviantArt too of course.

Neal
